LSU is coming off a signature overtime win over Alabama and are now ranked 7th in the AP Poll ahead of their game against Arkansas this weekend. Now with control of the SEC West, safety Major Burns said the team is focused on keeping their upward momentum.
“We don’t want to get distracted at all, so coach ‘BK’ made it a key point to come in here: Let’s lock in, let’s not listen to too many distractions, and let’s just keep this thing on a roll and keep trending upward.”
After an unsure start to the season with a close, sloppy loss to Florida State and a disheartening loss at home to Tennessee, the Tigers are one of the most improved teams of the season and are in contention for an SEC title. Wide receiver Jaray Jenkins credited new Tigers Head Coach Brian Kelly for preparing the team throughout the season.
“He hasn’t changed for no game. He’s been the same no matter what. It’s just our attention to detail and especially him. He’s been doing a great job with us, getting us prepared each week no matter who we play, no matter how big the game is. Just seeing the way he does that, he’s the leader of us, and we just follow him, and like I said, the way he carries himself with that, it’s been great.”
One of the biggest questions for the Tigers ahead of their game in Fayetteville is how they’ll handle the weather. With temperatures forecasted in the mid to upper 40’s, many fans are unsure of how the team will fare. Kelly has already said he doesn’t expect the team to be affected, and veteran linebacker Micah Baskerville said the team has played in the cold before.
“He showed us a film of us training back in January, and I didn’t realize it was that cold. It was like 30-something degrees out there. I didn’t realize it but we were out there getting that work in. We’ve already played and worked out in that weather before, so I feel like we’re gonna be prepared for it.”
Kickoff Saturday is set for 11:00 AM.
