A day after Senator John Kennedy issued a statement he’s highly considering running for the state’s highest office, Senator Bill Cassidy said he’s made up his mind about the 2023 governor’s race.
“I’ve made a decision and I’ll make that announcement later this week, but I won’t tease it now,” Cassidy chuckled.
When asked about fellow Republican John Kennedy hinting at his intentions for the gubernatorial race…
“He’s just spent millions on advertising, he’s going to have good name recognition of course that will be formidable, and John’s a friend, so just to say that about John,” said Cassidy.
This week the state Republican Party announced they’re backing of Attorney General, Jeff Landry for governor and Cassidy chuckled about the politics of the endorsement.
“What a classic inside job right? So, if you want the people in the proverbial backroom planning who’s going to be the next governor that was a nice little hat tip to that. Aside from that nothing else to say,” Cassidy responded.
With the race less than a year away, expect more candidates to announce their intentions for the governor’s race along with Lt. Governor, Attorney General Treasurer, and Secretary of State in the coming weeks.
