School performance scores indicate Louisiana K-12 schools are back at pre-pandemic levels Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley made the announcement this morning and says the statewide performance score in 2019 was 77.1 and for 2022 the state has bounced back.
“So, our 77.1 is up from the 75.3 last year and in 2020 no scores were released and then in 2019 it was 77.1,” said Brumley.
The scores are based on student achievement data.
He credits a collective focus on attendance, well-being, and professional learning for teachers for the increase in scores. Brumley says the boost in performance scores should be celebrated.
“We need to pause today, take a moment of celebration but then know that tomorrow we’ve got to get right back to the grind because we still have a lot of work to do in the state of Louisiana,” said Brumley.
Brumley believes if they stay the course on literacy, refresh the way they think about math, and continue to transform our high schools.
“And give parents options where they can make decisions on the best school for their own child, I think we’ll continue to see improvement in the state of Louisiana,” said Brumley.
For the 2020-2021 school year the department released simulated school performance scores that were not official results due to the pandemic.
