The joyride of four children that began in Smith County, Texas ended around 8:30 this morning in Port Allen, after logging some 300 miles. West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Sgt. Landon Groger said they received a call from the car owner, who was tracking the vehicle with their GPS. Deputies then found it on Highway 415.
“And the driver, who was a 15-year-old juvenile, led deputies on a brief pursuit that ended in the city limits of Port Allen,” said Groger.
The three passengers are 12, 13, and 14. Groger said no one was injured.
“All four of the juveniles were taken into custody. The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Division is working closely with Texas Officials, Smith County, to transfer them back to their jurisdiction,” said Groger.
And while he admits a 300-mile trip is quite a trek considering the driver and passengers are all juveniles, Groger said he’s not necessarily taken aback.
“I’ve seen some crazy things, but this day and time to be honest with you, it doesn’t surprise me though,” said Groger.
The teens will face charges in Smith County, Texas where the vehicle was stolen.
