On his monthly radio call-in show Ask the Governor – Governor John Bel Edwards addressed a recent statewide poll by Citizens for a New Louisiana that shows 55 percent of residents think the state is heading in the wrong direction. Edwards says the state has made strides but agrees progress could be made in certain areas…
“There’s an awful lot of good work that has gone on but at the same time, nobody is anywhere close. Certainly not me. To spiking the ball in the endzone and saying this is where we want to be.”
Louisiana has ranked for years near the bottom in several education rankings. When asked about the state being the poorest and most illiterate state, Edwards says…
‘We are constantly trying to figure out how we can improve educational outcomes. I can tell you that we have made monumental strides towards good childhood education.”
Edwards believes leading the state takes dedication and he will continue to do what is right for the citizens…
‘We’re never going to say mission accomplished because there’s always ways to improve healthcare, economic development, and education. You just got make sure you get up every day and you’re committed to continuing to make positive change.”
