An argument at the breakfast table turns deadly in LaPlace. 24-year-old Tamyrihu Hubbard of Marrero is behind bars in connection with the shooting death of her boyfriend, 23-year-old Joshua Jones. St. John The Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Trege says the couple had been having problems, and the argument over breakfast was the last straw.
“He was trying to get her to not waste food because other family members had not eaten, and that was the final straw. When they got into it, verbal turned physical, then turned deadly,” Trege said.
Sheriff Trege says the problems had been going on for quite some time.
“It was probably about two years, from what I have been able to gather from interviews and witnesses. Nothing documented through the Sheriff’s office, just what people have been telling us,” Trege said.
Trege says prosecutors have charged Hubbard with second-degree murder.
“We went back and forth about the charge, whether it be manslaughter or second-degree murder, but we have some physical evidence that we believe strengthens the charge of second-degree murder,” Trege explained.
Hubbard’s bond is set at $1 million dollars.
