It will be a wet Memorial Day weekend as the state is stuck in a rainy weather pattern that will stick around into next week. National Weather Service Meteorologist Chanelle Stigger in Lake Charles says we are looking at some impressive rain totals for the next week.
“So we are expecting anywhere between 10-15 inches, depending on exactly where you are. And this is, again, over the next seven days,” Stigger said.
Stigger says a stationary frontal system over the Southern Plains is helping to produce all of this rain.
“We also have gulf moisture that’s being pulled into the areas, so just several things that are set up over the area that’s going to allow, not only heavy rainfall, but just a continuation of moisture,” Stigger explained.
Stigger says rain chances are higher on Saturday and Sunday and they drop off for Monday. She says the clouds and rain will ultimately make it more comfortable to be outside once it does dry out.
“The clouds and rain are going to kind of help keep the temperatures a little bit in check, so we’ll be looking at temperatures that are actually near average,” Stigger noted.
Most of Louisiana can expect 3-6 inches of rain through Tuesday.
