And then, there were two. With the incumbent out of the race, Julia Letlow and John Fleming are now squaring off head-to-head for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Fleming said his supporters are more excited now, and a poll that his campaign did after the primary shows him tied with Letlow.
He said, “The Letlow campaign has got a lot of establishment endorsements and tons of special interest money coming out of Washington, and also a lot of money coming from the carbon capture industry, and yet still it’s a tie at this point.”
Fleming said while he opposes carbon capture and sequestration, Letlow is in bed with the industry – and not exactly figuratively.
“Her fiancé is the chief lobbyist for carbon capture and sequestration, which I see as problematic because now she has a vested financial interest in carbon capture and sequestration,” said Fleming
He said while Letlow certainly has a well-financed campaign, his campaign finance strategy has not changed since he launched his Senate run a year and a half ago – and you will see and hear plenty of ads from his campaign between now and June 27th.
“I’ve largely financed my own campaign,” said Fleming. “I will continue to do so. Yes, you will see plenty of ads, but I also have individual donors stepping up as well.”
Louisiana Radio Network has repeatedly asked for an interview with Julia Letlow through her campaign, but her campaign never replied to our requests.
