Outgoing U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says he will not get involved in the U.S. Senate race between Republican Julia Letlow and Democrat Jamie Davis. That means Cassidy, who finished third in the U.S. Senate Republican Primary, will not endorse Letlow in the November third general election.
“She’s not asked me for the endorsement, she does not need my endorsement; she has President Trump’s endorsement, and that’s what’s going to matter in our state,” Cassidy said.
President Trump’s endorsement of Letlow, before she even entered the race, helped the Congresswoman win the U.S. Senate Republican Primary run-off over state treasurer John Fleming. Cassidy says Letlow doesn’t need his help to beat Davis.
“Our state’s a republican state. A Republican is going to get elected, and she won the closed party primary,” Cassidy noted.
Cassidy is expecting Letlow to win easily on November third over Davis.
“I anticipate her winning roughly, probably, 60-40 or something like that; 55-45,” Cassidy predicted.
