The Shreveport Regional Airport is offering daily nonstop flights to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport for the first time in 18 years. The new United Airlines service began Sunday, and airport spokesperson Mark Crawford says Monday’s flight was nearly full.
“The plane, on Monday, had 70; so the plane was almost completely sold out on Monday. The lows continue to be great for a brand-new flight; we’re still getting the word out and about,” Crawford said.
Crawford says the Chicago once-daily flight leaves between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM and takes about two hours to arrive at O’Hare.
“We have a lot of seasonal flights with Allegiant, to Destin, Orlando and Nashville; and so we want to make sure that everyone knows this is a daily, non-stop flight, year-round on United Airlines,” Crawford noted.
Crawford says a daily flight out of Shreveport to Chicago every morning opens an opportunity to more than 220 cities from Chicago, including 47 international destinations. Or he says you can use this flight to spend the day in Chicago.
“You get there at 9:30 AM. The flight does not return until back from Chicago to Shreveport until about 8:30 PM or 8:45 PM, depending on the day of the week. You get back to Shreveport around 10:30 PM or 10:45 PM,” Crawford explained.
Crawford says if demand is high, a second daily flight could be added, as they’ve seen with flights to Charlotte and Denver.
