Nicholls debuted a jersey logo patch partnership with Thibodaux Regional Health System last weekend. The co-branded logo will appear on uniforms across all 17 Nicholls sports as an expansion of the pre-existing partnership between the university and medical system. Nicholls Athletics Director JT Terrel says having the agreement with someone you’re familiar with just makes it better.
“When you think about a jersey patch; all 17 sports, and the fact that we’re able to do it with our neighbor who’s been a longtime supporter of Nicholls State University, it’s just awesome,” Terrel said.
The partnership represents the largest long-term commitment to athletics in Southland Conference history. As college athletics departments across the country look for ways to survive the increased expenses in the new era of college sports, Terrell says this agreement makes a big difference.
“You have a lot going on all the time, and expenses here and expenses there; and the fact that it is a great shot in the arm for what we’re trying to do if we want to compete at a championship level,” Terrel noted.
Terrell says Thibodaux Regional Health System is also providing the Colonels with sports medicine services, including a full athletic training staff, advanced medical technology and athletic facilities.
“12 trainers. A lot of people don’t have that. And that’s a really, really big deal to have that; taking care of your student athletes,” Terrel said.
