Louisiana is once again ranked among the nation’s top 10 states for business competitiveness. The publication Area Development ranks Louisiana 9th in its latest report, marking the second consecutive year the state has made the top 10. Louisiana Economic Development spokesperson Emma Wagner says site selectors recognized the state’s business-friendly tax environment.
“It’s our generational workforce that has always been so strong; it’s our energy costs; it’s our business incentive programs and our tax environment,” Wagner noted.
Wagner says tax reforms approved in 2024 helped improve Louisiana’s standing. She says the state’s access to electric power was another factor in the ranking.
“Working closely with our amazing partners at all of our utility providers to help make sure that these projects can be powered, and none of those effects costs are put onto the rate payers,” Wagner explained.
Louisiana also ranked 9th last year, marking its first top-10 finish in five years. Wagner says the state’s fast permitting process also helped, and she expects Louisiana to remain among the top-ranked states for business in the years ahead.
“This isn’t just a moment; that all of this success and recognition is not just right now. It’s not a moment; it’s momentum,” Wagner said.
